In 2026, FOSAT is committed to funding much needed works in partnership with our key beneficiary, the Church of St Andrew in Tangier. Works to be completed for the restoration of the church have been identified in plans drawn up by a Tangier based architect, along with an engineer with more than 50 years of experience between them. The works are to be divided into the following components organised according to priority:
Phase 1: Stabilisation of church tower and nave.
Phase 1 estimated cost: 100,000 EUR
Phase 1 timeframe: Beginning works in February, 2026
Phase 2: Foundation and walls - main building and perimeter enclosure.
Phase 2 estimated cost: 100,000 EUR
Phase 2 timeframe: Beginning works mid March, 2026
Phase 3: Upgrading of drainage and rain water management, including removal of old materials in order to protect key structures.
Phase 3 estimated cost: 75,000 EUR
Phase 3 timeframe: Beginning works late April, 2026
Phase 4: Interior work including floors (wood and marble) ceilings and and walls.
Phase 4 estimated cost: 50,000 EUR
Phase 4 timeframe: Beginning work late April, 2026
Phase 5: Renovation of the caretaker’s residence and public bathroom.
Phase 5 estimated cost: 50,000 EUR
Phase 5 timeframe: Beginning works August, 2026
